A lawyer who built a career but forgot what it felt like to be seen outside of her title. A woman celebrating a divorce. A woman celebrating a marriage. A mother rediscovering herself after years of putting everyone else first. A woman turning 40. A woman turning 60. A woman recovering from illness. A woman finally doing something just because she wanted to. Different stories. Different professions. Different ages. Different chapters. What they all had in common was this: None of them came because they needed photos. They came because they wanted to remember who they were. The albums. The wall art. The portraits. They’re beautiful. But the real transformation happens long before any artwork is created. It happens the moment a woman decides she’s worth showing up for. Hi, I’m Alishba Zarmeen. For the last 12 years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing women through some of the most important chapters of their lives. One thing I’ve noticed after photographing women f One thing I’ve noticed after photographing women for 12 years is that the women who book a consultation with me aren’t usually the most confident women. They’re often the women who have spent years putting themselves last. The lawyer who can argue a case in front of a courtroom but freezes when she’s in front of a camera. The executive who manages a team of 50 people but can’t accept a compliment. The mom who would spend thousands on her children’s milestones without hesitation but struggles to spend money on herself. The woman who has accomplished everything she set out to do and still feels disconnected from the person in the mirror. Confidence isn’t what brings most women to Dream Boudoir. Curiosity does. A mental voice asking: “What would happen if I stopped seeing myself through everyone else’s eyes for a day?” The confidence usually shows up later. Sometimes at the reveal. Sometimes when their artwork goes on the wall. Sometimes years later when they walk past it and remember exactly who they are. 💜 That’s why I don’t ask women to be confident before they come see me. I just ask them to be open to the possibility that they’ve been more extraordinary than they’ve given themselves credit for. DM if you’re even a little bit curious 💋

Outside of everyone needing something from you. Outside of the version of you that’s always “on.” This experience changes women because for a moment, you stop performing and start existing again. When you are a young mom, you have to make choices When you are a young mom, you have to make choices and decisions differently than your friends. And when you start getting some of that freedom back as your kids grow up, you start seeing yourself more clearly too. For her 35th, we did a private session to celebrate the woman she has become. What do you want to see in your photographs?
On a cold February morning when I was sitting for On a cold February morning when I was sitting for coffee with my makeup team, my studio phone rang. I picked up and started having a conversation with her about how her heart was broken mere days before Valentine’s Day and she was struggling to understand how this could’ve happened. I told her, come spend the day with us. And on Valentine’s Day that year, we brought her to have a date with herself and remember who she is. What a beautiful result. It was an emotional day for all of us and I’m so glad she found a way back to herself. This is what happens in the studio. This is the real behind the scenes: the change you feel when you hold the artwork 💫
12 years ago, I thought women would want safer pho 12 years ago, I thought women would want safer photos, smaller dreams, hidden albums, and “tasteful” versions of themselves. Instead, women taught me that sensuality, softness, power, grief, reinvention, rage, confidence, artistry, and femininity can all exist in the same photograph. They taught me that boudoir was never really about lingerie. It was about identity. About seeing yourself outside of motherhood, caregiving, relationships, careers, heartbreak, expectations, or survival mode. And honestly? That’s why choosing your photographer matters so much. People assume professional women like doctors, law People assume professional women like doctors, lawyers, executives, and women in STEM wouldn’t want boudoir photos. But in reality, they’re often the women craving this experience the most. I’ve photographed countless type A women over the last 12 years. Women who are brilliant, high-functioning, deeply responsible, and constantly carrying the emotional weight of everyone around them. And almost all of them say some version of the same thing before their shoot: “I don’t know how to relax.” “I’m awkward.” “I don’t know how to be in my body.” Because when your entire life revolves around performance, caregiving, leadership, logic, and being “the strong one,” reconnecting with softness, sensuality, artistry, and presence can feel unfamiliar. Most women don’t realize how many invisible contra Most women don’t realize how many invisible contracts they signed when they were born. Be smaller. Be humble. Be practical. Wait until you lose the weight. Don’t spend money on yourself. Don’t take up space. Don’t be “too much.” And somewhere along the way, being witnessed became something women felt they had to earn. This is why Dream Boudoir exists. Not for perfect women. DMs are open for real women ready to finally see themselves intentionally.

Even Ruth Gemmell explained in an interview the prep it took for her to be confident enough to do the scene. And it’s in doing the scene and prepping for it, she found her confidence. This is also true for the women who come to me for boudoir in their 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s… When I meet these women and photograph them, all of them have one thing to say: we’re just getting started 💫
Some women are looking for a photoshoot. The wome Some women are looking for a photoshoot. The women I work with are usually looking for something far deeper than that. A pause from performing. A space where they don’t have to be “on.” A day where nobody needs anything from them. A chance to feel powerful, soft, sensual, artistic, elegant, wild, emotional, confident… without needing to explain why. And most importantly? Something tangible at the end of it. Not just files lost in a camera roll. But artwork that lives in their home. An album their future self will hold. A portrait that reminds them who they were in this chapter of life. That’s why our consultation calls matter so much. Because before we ever talk outfits or poses, we talk about you. Who you are beneath the roles. What this season of life means.
